Alexandra Burke spoke of her excitement at attending the BRITs and how proud she is to be a part of the British music scene. The stunning singer said: “I was that girl who used to sit at her TV and go “Mum, one day I want to attend those BRITs,” and it’s just amazing to be a part of it all. “In terms of music I think the BRITs are ruling the universe and it makes me proud to be a Brit. Speaking of her X Factor win back in 2008, Alexandra said: “The X Factor changed my life drastically. It’s been four years since I won the show and that time has gone so fast.” Keen to offer advice to 2011 winners Little Mix, who also attended the event, she added: “For Little Mix the challenge they face is you’ve just got to make sure you enjoy yourself and make great music that you’ll love to perform in 50 years time.” Judging by the grin on their faces at the bash, the ‘Little muffins’ appear to be having a ball. Perrie said “we’re doing something we absolutely love,” while bandmate Jade was a little distracted by the presence of Labrinth, who she “loves.”

The X Factor winners Little Mix have revealed that they have still not met the show’s creator Simon Cowell. The girls were attending the National Television Awards, where Perrie Edwards explained to The Xtra Factor co host Caroline Flack, who was presenting the ITV2 show, that the Little Mix girls were still waiting to meet Simon Cowell.

Edwards explained, “We haven’t met him yet, we really want to meet him. I’d be really nervous, he’s so lovely but he’d be really intimidating at the same time.” Jade Thirwall then discussed their performance at the ceremony. She added, “It’s the first live performance we’ve done since X Factor, so there was a lot of pressure. We were a bit nervous, but it was brilliant.”

Jesy Nelson the contradicted Jade by stating that they never get nervous. She continued, “We never get nervous though. Even at Wembley we didn’t get nervous. But tonight we were petrified.” Leigh-Anne Pinnock also chipped in by talking about what we can expect from the next Little Mix single. She said, “Expect something completely different, never done before.” Little Mix have yet to announce any details about their second single.

Little Mix’s cover of the En Vogue track saw them to victory in the last series of The X Factor, and the girl band will perform a newly-choreographed routine when they return at the National Television Awards tonight at London’s O2 Arena. Popular home-grown shows such as Doctor Who, Downton Abbey and The Only Way is Essex are up for awards at the ceremony, which are voted for entirely by the public. Formed from individual X Factor contestants Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Little Mix edged out Marcus Collins to be crowned 2011 champions of the ITV talent contest and are expected to release a debut album sometime this year. The National Television Awards will air live on ITV1 tonight at 7.30pm.
