‘Cannonball’ was chosen as the winners single of X-Factor for 2011, both finalists recorded a version of the song for release upon their victory on the competition. The song is a cover version of a Damien Rice song from his 2003 album entitled ‘O’, Damien’s version of the song was rereleased in September of 2011 and peaked at #13 in the UK charts. Statistically Little Mix’s version of “Cannonball” was the fastest selling single of the year 2011, but became the lowest selling X-Factor debut single since 2005.
